In this video, we go through a cold call script for CPA services. This is a script we created when analyzing a cold call recording for a salesperson who sells tax planning and CPA services.
Introduction
Here is a cold call introduction and check-in for availability for the call.
Hi Tom, this is Michael Halper calling from Tax Pros.
Did I catch you in the middle of anything?
Value Proposition
After you open the call, you can share your value proposition by saying something like:
The reason for the call is that we help professionals and business owners to:
- Decrease the amount of taxes they pay
- Make sure there is nothing being missed with how they are currently filing their taxes
- Develop a strategy that minimizes their tax exposure
- I don’t know if you are a fit with what we do or not.
Ask Questions
After you share your value prop in this cold call script for CPA services, you can then transition to asking questions. You can start by learning about what the prospect is doing today by asking current state questions:
- Do you currently have someone to help you with tax planning and strategy?
- How do you feel about the job they have done at decreasing your taxes?
- Have you ever worked with anyone to help with a wealth increase framework or strategy?
You can mix in or transition to pain questions:
- How confident are you that you are minimizing the amount of taxes you are paying?
- Do you feel like you have leveraged all of the available loopholes and opportunities to decrease your taxes?
- How do you feel about your tax planning and strategy?
- How do you feel about your current approach to increasing wealth?
Discuss Pain Points
If the questions in your cold call script for CPA services do not uncover needs or challenges, you can try to find those by sharing the problems you help to solve:
A lot of people we work with have challenges with:
- Paying more taxes than they need to
- It can be easy to miss loopholes and opportunities to decrease taxes
- It can be complex and time-consuming to build out a strategy that is effective at minimizing tax exposure
Are you concerned about any of those areas?
Product and Company Details
Once you identify an area where there is room for improvement, you can then introduce your product and company as a solution to the prospect’s needs by saying something like:
It might make sense to talk more.
I am with Tax Pros and we provide:
- Tax planning and minimum tax strategy
- Wealth optimization framework
Some ways we differ:
- We operate on a contingency model
- You do not pay anything unless we decrease your taxes
Customer Example
A really nice touch at the end of a cold call script for CPA services is to share an example of a customer you have helped.
- We worked with the owner of Fruit Ship.
- They were not able to find ways to decrease their taxes.
- We helped to solve that with a tax planning service.
- This helped to put in place a short and long-term tax strategy.
- This ultimately decreased their tax exposure by 25%.
Cold Call Close
After you build interest by sharing your product and company details, you can then close the prospect on the next step in your sales process, which is to set an appointment or schedule a call.
But I have called you out of the blue, and I don’t know if this is the best time to discuss this.
Are you available for a brief call to learn more about you and discuss how we are helping businesses to decrease taxes?
