In this video, we discuss how to use AI to create a sales script. For this demo, we will use the product of selling wheat to distributors and manufacturers.
Background
I had the idea to create this video because I recently worked with a Sales Scripter customer who sells wheat. When we first started working together, I wondered if this process would work for her because wheat is one of the most simple and commoditized products in the world. I worried that it would not be possible to create a compelling and attention-grabbing sales script.
But our process for how to use AI to create a sales script actually worked for the product of wheat. And that means that this should be able to work for just about any product or service being sold.
Using ChatGPT to create a sales script
The AI we will be using for this demonstration is ChatGPT. You can go directly to ChatGPT and ask it to create a sales script for selling wheat to distributors and manufacturers.
With that simple request, it will perform a decent job of creating the first version of a sales script. It will provide an opening, value proposition, questions to ask, responses to objections, and a close. But there is definitely a lot of room for improvement.
Fixing the AI-generated sales script
ChatGPT does an incredible job at sales copywriting, but for how to use AI to create a sales script, you will have to do a good job telling it what to do or how to fix the sales script it provided. Here are some of the areas where I would ask ChatGPT to make changes or add more:
- Benefits we have to offer
- Pain points we can help to solve
- Questions to probe for pain
- Questions to learn about the current state
- Interesting product details
- An example of a customer we have helped
Creating your sales message
If you create just a few talking points in each of those areas, you will not only have a very effective and powerful sales script but also a sales message that you can use for all of your other communications.
We have a step-by-step process you can use to create points in each of those areas. Each of those steps and sets of points creates what we refer to as your building blocks, which you can then easily mix and match to create all of your different sales scripts.
Combining our process with AI and ChatGPT
You can certainly go through our sales message brainstorming process using ChatGPT to create each set of points using a prompt/request for each step. For example, you can ask ChatGPT to create a set of benefits for the product or service you sell.
When you ask ChatGPT these individual requests, it can take some trial and error to get the request right so that the AI creates something you can use in your sales script, and that can take a little time and brain power.
